Tractor
Mahindra 1533
I just spent 600 dollars on service and the tractor would not crank when I got it back from being serviced. I jumped off, primed fuel filter and it fired up! It didn’t sound like my tractor. I drive it and parked it. I was busy for a few days and looked over at my tractor and fuel was running down the frame. I went through and traced it back to the spin on fuel filter. I reached up to unplug the plug that goes in the water sensor and the dang plug fell off in my hand. They knew it was broken. Because they put it on! Only wire holding the plug on was the hot wire. They tucked the other wires going to the plug in the wire. I called the dealer that is n arrogant jerk and he said they would come and get it. Never called, nothing. Oh they left the left panel off of the tractor and never brought it back. So here I go to get a plug and they don’t even know what they are looking for. Mechanics left that were great at the dealership and I luckily found them at another dealership. They said they would pick it up and put the part on and check out the tractor. They put the new plug on the sensor and then the tractor will turn over but not crank. They have put the computer on it, checked fuses and safety plugs and it will not crank. I even tried it. Sounds strong but no crank. I nearly have it paid off and then this. They think it is the EUC or the wiring harness. They can’t find the problem. I can’t find parts and I would gladly buy them but they aren’t any cheaper at Bills than what the mechanic can get them for. I did call Mahindra d filed a complaint but that will just make the jerk dealer madder and they don’t know what they are doing. This has about made me sick. It will probably cost me $3000 to have my tractor fixed and Mahindra tore it up!

So the mechanics that did this service left the Dealership? And they messed it up? So you found them at another location and now they have your tractor? And now they are telling you you need new computer and wiring harness?

You should have left the tractor at the dealership that did the work. They are the ones that should be fixing this. Going to these other guys has complicated the issue and now you owe them. And now that they have worked on it, the dealer is no longer responsible because the other guys could have messed it up more.

You have no choice now but pay someone to fix it. Good luck.

No. The mechanics that worked on my tractor, at the Mahindra dealership, since I have had it quit and went to another dealership. And after hearing from two guys i sent there to buy tractors said they left because no one would help them. I went to get the part and when I walked in the guys at the desk remained seated and the parts guys didn't even know what to look for. I had to actually ask them for help. And I had to help them find the part. It was awful there. They didn't know what they were doing. I accidentally found one of the mechanics and then found out the other mechanic was working with him. This past week they got the other mechanic to come to their dealership. I didn't want idiots working on my tractor anymore. It was awful, I called the dealer that could care less except he is always right and he said he was sending someone to get the tractor. I had been lied to enough. They were delivering it on Friday and no call or text, anything. I call and they say Monday. No delivery. Same thing the next week. Anyone would be tired of that. Then they send it back and it was a mess. So I don't want them touching it agin. Yes, it is a mess but at least I know it will be done right. The Mahindra dealership wanted to put that on me. My tractor was wreck when it came back and that is not the service I have always recieved but everyone quit the dealership, even the delivery driver that picks up the tractors and other equipment. I bought a dang lawnmower from them. It kept breaking belts. I drove back and forth hauling that lawnmower and it has done the same thing each time. Tghe owner said months ago he would get his bouys to fix it. No. Notta. I am done. I love my tractor but as I have read before alot of people have trouble with some dealershsips. They should be trained to do the work before they send it to back to a customer. Now. Where is the best place to get parts for this dang tractor?

Makes sense but once you took the tractor out of the dealership’s hands and took it to the mechanics you trust, you now own the problem. Whatever the cost to repair you will be liable for and the dealership is not obligated to do anything else. This is why I think you should have made the dealership fix it as it was their problem then.

I understand that. I tried. I waited. I was nice. I even told them I wasn’t putting blame on anyone. I don’t know those new guys and you are right. I should have gone toe to toe with the dealer again, again and again. But as long as I have been doing business with them I have always been treated with respect and always gotten great service. Not now that the only child has taken over plus they are building another new dealership. Hell they can’t run the one that first started. It has embarrassed me because I have sent them customers for years and they always bought a tractor. Always. But after these John Q. Public mechanics messed this up then I sure didn’t want them to work on a thing anymore. The son that took over the dealership probably doesn’t know the difference between gas and diesel and he is now in charge. I tried to tell the son that I didn’t want them to lose business because he can’t be in two places at once and he is driving about two hours or more a day. I told him that months ago because they were having trouble then. His daddy the owner was the one telling me what a mess that was going on at the dealership. I don’t want that. I don’t want that for anyone.

All the mechanic did was put the plug in to the water sensor on bottom of spin on fuel filter of which the dealership should have done instead of hot wiring it in and then tucking left over wires into the wire tubing. It should have been fixed. The mechanic had to splice the wire into the wire because the incapable parts guy couldn’t find the right part. Yes it would have worked if there had of been a plug on that wire.you can check the other pictures. But after he spliced the wire in the tractor wouldn’t crank. I couldn’t get it to crank until I prime the fuel filter pump. It must have had enough of the little wires connected on the hot wire to crank for me.

I bought the plug from the dealership. They knew what was going on because I told them. I had to go get the left panel they didn’t return anyway.

What was the reason for taking it in for service? What type of service? Was there a drivability issue or lack of power before you took it in?

What I am having a hard time understanding is because of a water sensor plug, now you need a new harness or ECM. I would like to think your mechanics could pin test the ECM and determine if it or wiring is the issue. Does your mechanic have the Mahindra diagnostic computer? It should have stored codes if it was in fail safe mode.

Anyway, hope they find the solution for you.

My local mihindra dealer is pretty much like what the OP is complaining about. Problems from the front door to the back door. Mihindra as a corporation has a bit of a history of issues with a wide varying of different parts on the same model tractors and lack of corporate support. Add in current problems with getting parts, it turns into a mess. Some dealerships seem to have figured out how to provide great customer service while dealing with all of these issues. Many do not seem able to or care to. Got to be frustrating to deal with.
