I bought the tractor new in 2004. Now has 620 hours and has been kept serviced and stored inside. The pto solenoid sticks if it sets long without shifting the pto. Annoying but can live with that. One of the lock ring grooves on the loader valve spools has worn and will not retain the lock ring, had to remove some of the springs in order to keep using the valve and have no detent to center now. Checked with the local dealer and he says the replacement cost of the valve is $2500.00, not going to happen, I will go to aftermarket and find a valve. The more serious problem is I had to replace the pilot bearing at 510 hours and the front crank seal at 550 hours. When replacing the seal I noticed an excessive amount of crank end play (apx .075). Needed to get the tractor back running to finish getting about quarter acre ready for sod. Buy the time I finished the seal was leaking again and oil pressure was dropping when engine was at operating temp. Put in my shop and pulled the engine. The front main was wearing bad and the oil pump gear and crank gear were breaking up. I am assuming the end play in the crank caused this. The front main is wore down .002 and so the crank needed to be turned. Mahindra does not furnish oversize bearings and they want $3500.00 for a new crankshaft along with $1,600 for gaskets and bearings, etc. I sent the shaft off to be built up and brought back to standard, just under a grand. Purchased a service manual and there are no engine specs in the manual, the whole engine section is blank. Having trouble even getting the torque specs, the dealer has nothing with the specs and still waiting on a response from Mahindra for specs. I do not know yet why the excessive end play unless it has always been there and just finally wore the gears enough to start the engine damage. Would appreciate any comments that may help as far as where engine parts may be available other than Mahindra, where to get a good engine service manual, and or comments as to the cause. I like the tractor when it is functional and would like to get it right. Do not want to have these issues again. Thanks to everyone who reads and responds with information.
