after my latest adventure w/ my spindle housing cap, i found metal filings in the front axle oil. i noticed that when the cap got pushed up, it made contact w/ the bevel gear, which wore a gouge into the cap. i'm guessing (hoping) this is where all of the filings are from.
does anyone use magnetic drain plugs? i figure it might be a good idea to add them to catch any more metal that didn't come out w/ the oil change.
mcmaster has them for about $3 each, seems kind of expensive for a plug and magnet, but would rather buy pre-made than trust DIY plugs not coming apart.
