LS xr4140
thanks everyone for all your posts, knowledge and insight, it sure helped to me to sift through the overwhelming amount of info on all the brands and models. My Wife and I just purchased an
LS XR 4140. delivered today. the choice was between an XR3140 or the 4140. while the 4140 is a little big for what i need at the moment but i followed the golden rule of tractor buying.
We went Blue due to the fact that out of all the dealers in 1.5 hour drive, only 2 actually let me get in the thing and let me take it for a spin. Those 2 where a NH dealer and the LS dealer i purchased from. the sales guy from the green guys [ who my family and I have dealt with for decades], was almost ashamed of the price that he offered me. fine machines but more features then what i need. ANYWAYS, not looking to open a debate, just my experience. Again thanks everyone.

Welcome and congrats! And a back hoe to boot. A nice ride you have there. You know that you're required to post pictures where the tractor has actual dirt on it? Subsection 3. So get out there and get some at least dirty slush on it :)

there is dirt on this one i swear... went and cleared some snow banks and almost got it stuck,,, forgot that I didn't put ballast in the rear because of the back hoe and the lawn, figured that would be a bit heavy for the time being. Good thing measured before i put it in there.... need feeler gauges to measure how tight it is to the top but not touching:drink:

Congratulations!
That is a fine looking machine!

G'day Mate and welcome to TBN from Downunder.

Just get yourself a ballast-box (or make one... there're plenty of threads here on TBN of what Members have knocked-up) for those times when the backhoe isn't on. As you've learnt, it's best to have your machine balanced for the work you're doing.

Congratulations on your new rig and enjoy the site.

You don't need "extra" weight on the back end ..... just put the backhoe on. Nothing is better for getting "unstuck" than a hoe that you can use to push or pull yourself out of trouble.

That's a tight fit for sure. If you leave in there during a heat wave, probably too much tire pressure to get it out! Of course, there is the frost heave... Ditto on a ballast box. I made one for my little LS with a tool box in the top and a place to slide some shovels and rakes into. There are a few good designs on TBN to poach from.

:welcome: to TBN and congrats. As said, make yourself a rear ballast box. Cheap and easy to do.

Congrats on your new investment.
Your project list will get longer but much easier to do. ;)
