Well, as anticipated, my gloating was short lived.
My son was mowing last weekend and stopped for a break. I decided I'd take over and got all of about 10' after engaging the deck before I heard a number of loud and terrible noises.
I shut the PTO down and drove back to the shed to check things out.
Jacked the front of the unit up and what do I see? The center spindle assembly had detached itself completely from the deck. It was pushed up and sitting at an angle and there were numerous scrapes and marks on the deck underside where the blade had hit.
Obviously an excellent job on those bolts at the factory.
Interesting thing though, the dealer said they've seen this a few times before. So it's not some unusual and isolated incident.
Anyway, it's on warranty. The dealer came by on Monday and picked it up. No word yet on when I'll get it back. I also told while it's there to replace the already worn out in 85 hours, cheapo Chinese gas shock on the pedal assembly.
This is all pretty funny for now and will remain so. Right up until the warranty runs out that is...
