I made the last payment on my 2554 this morning. I got it two years ago with Cub zero percent financing but now it's finally mine instead of being partially owned by GE Credit.

I'm expecting I'll like it even more the next time I use it. ;) All mine and still a year of warranty left. I hope that helps me avoid the "as soon as it's paid off it breaks" syndrome...

It should blow up, tip over, and sink into a swamp in 5... 4... 3...

Congrats J. That last payment on ANYthing always feels good. I got my 2554 last July on 3 yrs, no interest, like you, hoping the "new" lasts until then. Still wipe it down every time like a new car. Geesh. Anyway, I know you're thrilled. We're all proud of ya. :D

There are some things about my 2554 that irritate me BoobyTrap, but overall I think it's a good machine. The extra money I spent vs. some of the lighter duty models I looked at was well spent IMO. And compared to some brands it was actually a good bit cheaper.

I know what they're up to with this easy financing though. Did they send you a Cub Cadet Credit Card with your no interest financing? They did with mine. As I paid down the balance on the mower I noticed it increased the available credit on that card.

They're trying to get me to buy attachments, and at credit card interest rates... ;)

Nope, I have some willpower. I'm not doing it as much as I'd like to have a couple of things...

Congrats on paying it off! At least it was only two years.
I see they now have 7 year car loans. I put more than 30,000 miles on per year and would be very lucky if a car even lasted me 7 years.

Oh, they have 8 year car loans now. You still make payments while it's sitting in the junkyard LOL! Actually, it's quite commonplace for a typical car to last at least 10 years and 100k+ miles now. I remember back in the 70's and 80's when it was a miracle to get 100k miles out of a car engine before having to rebuild it. Now people expect it to last at least that long.

With good maintenance and using it for it's intended purposes, one should expect to get a minimal of 15-20 years out of a Cub Cadet 2500 series machine. Yeah, you are going to replace some parts along the way, but it should make economic sense to keep it at least that long. With 10 years now under it, my mom's Craftsman LT is starting to fall apart and my mom doesn't understand why. I tell her that ones like it are only intended to last 8-10 years, so she should consider herself lucky it runs at all.

Paid off? Uh oh! Time for something bigger and better!!! I used that GE "Power Card" when I bought my 2544 in March/April 2005. I couldn't sleep with those terms looming over my head so I paid it off within two months and canceled the card. Luckily I was fortunate enough to do so.
