Generic glyphosate is sold under dozens of different labels. It's all the same stuff.

Yea, and when mixed as directed it takes 2-3 weeks to work!
Our season here in Florida changes so fast that if I wait 2-3 weeks I miss the planting window!
My nephew tells me to double the mix rate for faster results. I haven't tried that yet.

A good friend of mine has been on a cattle farm since he was a kid, about 60 years, and says he's found out that to get a better kill, not a faster kill, mix it 1.5oz per gallon. He claims it doesn't kill fast and is able to leech down into the roots for a better kill. We've always mixed it anywhere from 2 to 3 sometimes 4oz. per gallon. We may try an area this season at 1.5oz and see. He's been using Roundup about since it came out so we'll see if he knows what he's talking about ;-)

Mixing at 4 ounces per gallon is a waste of chemical & $. Mix according to instructions. Glyphosate works by killing the roots, doesn't touch the tops--top kill comes when the roots die.

FWIW, I just paid $40 for 2.5 gallons for glyphosate with surfactant included in the product. Local farm supply store.

Also, using too much chemical is especially a problem with 2,4-D. Too much and it kills the top before it can be translocated to the roots.

I think you misread the label: both Mad Dog and Mad Dog Plus are EPA-labeled as 41% glyphosate: Labels MSDS Home Page . $30 is a good price IMO.

Yea there is lots of names of the stuff since they lost their sole patent on the formula 10 yrs or so ago. I paid like $24 for 2.5 gallons at agrisupply a few years ago. Still have about 2 gallons left. Its 41% glyphosate and has a surfactant actually higher than a more pricy brand (not roundup) that they sell there as well.

If its to dry glyphosate does not work as well. I have never had to wait 3 weeks for total brown with GLY. 5- days till bad looking and maybe a week and a half till totally brown.

The higher the temperature the faster it works, that same concentration will work 2 days at 90 degrees and sunny. Use it in the hottest part of the day after 2 days of dry weather.
