My MacKissic TPH-122 had been running slightly rough, a tad out of balance. So, I decided to remove the top chute and the hammer assemblies to figure out why.

One of the grooved pins holding one of the 4 shafts in place had come out. That caused that shaft to go out a bit and hit something inside such that a piece of the shaft's shoulder was broken off. Those 2 things are probably what was making it slightly out of balance.

The spacers are worn quite a bit. There is a lot of space between spacers and hammers. The hammers only have one good corner to use. So, I decided to replace the whole lot: $367 and a few cents.

I'd replaced the non zerk bearing a while back. It is still good and tight. So, this bit and possibly another replacement of that non zerk bearin along the way should get me another 12 years out of this machine.

The cover over the chipper blade is missing one screw, and there's a small metal chunk out of the top metal piece near the chute. All pretty much cosmetic.

This is a good machine and easy to work on. Good for grinding leaves and limbs smaller than 3 1/2".
