Well, I got my new tractor on Tuesday and have put 7 hours seat time on it so far. I'll try to get some pics taken and uploaded soon, if I get out of the tractor ;)

Congratulations on your new M8540. We have had ours close to two years and still get a kick out of it every time I climb up into it; been using the 5030 mostly with no bush hogging, but I can probably think of something to do with it before long.

Enjoy your new tractor.

Ran my rotary cutter over some rank grass for 3+ hrs (even after it got dark ) the first night then did a bunch of shuttling equipment using my pallet forks yesterday. Outside temps were 28 to 35 F but I had a cab heater - too much! Still trying to get used to all the new stuff like shifter, joystick .... I found myself reaching for levers that weren't there anymore - especially after I'd been working for awhile. Funny old habits.

It does take a while to get use to the controls and placement. We went from a Case CX80 with Synchro Shuttle transmission to the Hydraulic Shuttle Shift and it too me months to stop using the foot clutch pretty regularly. The Case also had push button MFWD and 3PH etc.

It always throws me for a few minutes when I get off of my 5030 and onto the 8540. I need to move some equipment around too after deer season.

What rotary cutter are you using?

Yep bigbull - it's easy to put the hours on sitting in all that luxury! Too bad I didn't get the radio. Add microwave and fridge and I might never climb out of the cab.

Trying to post a couple of full pics of my new rig. You can see why a cab might be "nice".

That's the reason for the cab. So nice. Those 2 pics are only 24 hrs apart BTW.

Finding all sorts of nice things - like a loader with a "float" setting? You're kidding me - that's too good when using my bucket on that white stuff. We have a gravel driveway and I usually tear the poop out of it every winter if the ground doesn't freeze before it snows. Not now.

I do wish my dealer would have gotten the manual before delivering the tractor - I'm still waiting. Idiot.

I love mine, especially in the "white stuff".
You will want the parts and service manual all so. They really come in handy when trying to figure out your new rig.

There is a little storage bin located on the back of the seat on my M8540, my tractor came with a manual in there.

Great looking tractor. You're really going to love it. I understand that the cab is a must.

Enjoy and be safe.

We rarely get snow here and when we do it is only a few inches. We got 24" a couple of times and had to call out the National Guard.

Thankfully our dealer had the tractor in stock, so we took the manual home before delivery. I bought an extra copy, one for home and one to keep in the tractor.

We didn't get near that amount (9-10") of snow. More like 4 to 6" and now it's a melting mess .... You got 9F as well? Yikes.

I'm a little late to this game.....

On my new 9540 I all most always grab for the park brake where it was on my old Deere and just the other day after several hours of good seat time I reached up for the shuttle shift in my pick up several times!!:ashamed:

Nice tractor, if you're like me you'll love every minute of it!
