We just took delivery of our new M7060 and the seat sits so low its not comfortable to use clutch and brakes. I can't be the only one who has had this problem! I'm 6'1" but have shorter legs and long body, I cant imagine having long legs with this machine!

Anyway, has anyone came up with a solution for this? Looks like you could put some spacers in, but the slant of the seat base has me worried about pushing further forward, which also seems like its pretty tight.

Thoughts?

I assume you have the standard mechanical seat, have you adjusted the weight adjustment setting that is on the front center lower section of the seat? See page 26 of your operators manual. I have the air suspension seat and can make the height too high if I want to. If you can't get what you want with the mechanical seat you could always upgrade to the air ride one.

I'm 6'1" and operate my M7060HD12 with the seat adjusted fully to the rear and is perfect for me. I have a friend that is a hay contractor and just purchased a 5660SU and had the dealer install an aftermarket swivel that lifted the seat about 3" and swivels 30 degrees to the right so he can watch the 3 point equipment at work. I was told by my dealer the air ride seat is only available on cab models, if you have a cab that might be an option for you. The issue I have is with the far right position of the gas pedal and the loader control housing. I'm going to see about making a custom clamp on extender to widen the pedal a couple inches to the left for my foot to reach it comfortably.

This was my fix for a non cab 9540. I pulled the surprisingly heavy seat out, then the factory "mount" and used some 4" channel to simply space the seat & seat track up. A big improvement in comfort for me.

Here's the factory seat mounting with the 4" channel added. I drilled a series of holes for a little more flexibility front to back if necessary.

Put back together. Pretty straightforward little mod. Now I'm looking for a "turntable" to swivel the seat.

A reason Kubota might have for placing the seat in its current height limit is ROPS. There is a required distance from top of ROPS to operator's head. It becomes a challenge for manufacturers to meet a design height limitation (like height for transport or to clear certain height doors) versus operator. The ROPS design requirement takes into account human sizes - I believe 90th percentile human seated height for ROPS. You might notice many tractors have lower height for cab than open ROPS. With a cab you have the front posts but open platform the design has to protect a driver from striking a line from top of ROPS to front top of substantial structure.

But you can get by this yourself by building the height spacers as shown above. Once you own the tractor there are no limits on what you do unless your have employees.

No problems with my seat height. I'm 5'9" and seems to be pretty comfortable with the standard seat on the M7060. It may be a matter of just using the height adjustment.

Good news seats are standarly 11" x 11-1/4" bolt pattern, Unbolt your seat from the suspension, and through bolt a bit of plywood or whathaveyou.

I just bought a 2008 L4400 and had the same problem. I am a big guy and the brakes sat way too high for me to be able to reach them...not to mention the treadle pedal was real uncomfortable to use. My solution was similar to the one above. I used some scrap 3x3 red iron from where I built my shop and attached it to the bottom of the seats with the factory bolts then attached the normal frame brackets to the 3x3 with 6 bolts & nuts. By using the factory brackets all the seat switchs etc still work like they are supposed to. I did paint it before putting it on the tractor but phone went dead before I got the pics of that LOL

Made 100% difference. I can now operate all the pedals comfortable and I do not have to use to steering wheel to pull myself up with :)
