M7040 Tires

On the new [still belongs to dealer] M7040 HDC-1 sitting in my barnyard, tires are Firestone Titan R-1, 9.5x24 and 16.9x30.

I was hoping for 8 though....

As has been pointed out by many on here "bigger isn't always better, sometimes it is just bigger". The right tractor is the one that fits your needs.

We can all identify with the new tractor fever; still drive through the Kubota lot from time to time just to look at what they have. :laughing:

The stock R4's on my little L3710 are only 6 ply front and 8 in the rear.

I'll be purchasing a M7040 in the next few months and the reason I'm looking into this is, I'm worried that R1's would be softer and more prone to cut/puncher working in the woods than the optional R4's. I was surprised to find the 6 and 8 ply ratings on my current R4's, because I've never had a problem out of them and I've been in some real rough terrain. I thought they would have been rated higher. Maybe the R4's have a harder rubber compound than R1's?...

yep - that's what came on it - purchased this June BTW

Went by another dealer this morning and the M7040 he had on the lot had R1 6ply front and rear....
Looking online at Titan/Goodyear and Firestone they only list 6ply for the 9.5-24 fronts and have 6 and 8 ply 16.9-30 rears.

I'm a little confused by Tnbilly's post....

working from an old memory strikes again.

I went out and actually looked at the tires - they're 6 ply front and rear. Titans front (yuk) and the Firestones on back. Sorry for the misinformation, certainly wasn't intentional, just careless!
