M7040 Question

   / M7040 Question #11
I found it ... it was the lever with the turtle and rabbit. Very hard to move ... I kinda had to double clutch and play around to get it.

He needs to fill his rears ... I always carry the FEL load low and when I went over a small incline the right rear came off about 2' ... a little pucker factor!!!

The range selection on our M8540 is like the M7040 and it often requires a little dinking around; agreed on the loaded tires, ours would be a bear without them.

He has rear wheel weights ... appears to not be enough. I have not used it too much ... nice quiet cab, big with plenty of room.

I guess it depends on how much the weights weigh compared to filled tires.

My preference is filled tires with some weight on the 3PH, but my son runs our M8540 up and down the hills with full bucket loads of mud without any problems with just the fluid. The rear tires do come off the ground when digging in the mud when the is suction.

I just feel better with counter balance.

I spoke with him a few minutes ago and during the conversation he stated he almost turned it over moving bales. These bales are pretty big 3x4x8 corn stalks ... don't know how much they weigh. I told him to keep those bales as low to the ground as possible.

I offered to help him fill the rears ... may do that this weekend.

Unfortunately the only bales with which I have any experience are the kind you pick up by hand.

Most of my neighbors do the round bales with on on the front and one on the back.

Adding fluid to the rear really should help with stability. Many on here recommend counter balance on the 3PH to lessen the load on the front axle.
