Bought a used M7040, and changing all the fluids/filters etc in it.

The manual sales 11 gallon on how much hydraulic fluid it will hold.

11 gallon did not make it show in the dipstick. Kept adding a gallon, finally at about 14 gallon, fluid showed on the dipstick.

What have you other owners experienced? Is the manual just flat wrong?

Any idea how much came out of it?

Don't have a good measure, but had 3, 5 gallon buckets....full enough that I was thinking it was more than 11 gallon. In fact now thinking about it, I poured the old oil back into the buckets I bought the oil in, and fill two (10 gallon) and got an open 5 gallon bucket with 3-4 gallon in it.

So the manual has to be wrong....but given the time this tractor has been around, why is that?

It wouldn't be the first time a manual was wrong. I don't understand it either, but it happens.

The capacity is supposed to be 14.8 gallons. I just pour (pump) in three 5-gallon buckets.
