M7040 or M6800, How big of Tandem Disc

I am considering purchasing a M7040 or M6800. The land in my area is very tight red clay. Does anyone have experience with either of these two tractors pulling a tandem disc? I am just wondering how big of disc I might be able to pull? Do you think these tractors would pull a 10 footer?

Well, I think the 7040 is rated for 3-14 plows... it may be 3-16's, so i would think that a 10' disc would be too small. My guess is that is is probably well suited for a 14' disc..maybe more. I pulled a 14' disc with my old 670 minneapolis-moline with the same horse power as the 7040 and only 2WD. If it would have had 4wd, i'd be driving it today.

The m7040 is rated for a maximum size disc harrow (drawbar type) of 10'. It is limited to 8' and 1200# with a 3ph type. Those are with 4WD. It's a little bit less with 2WD. The max. size plow is 16 in. x 3 bottom. But I would probably recommend a 14 x 3. That's what I'm looking to get. You will be very hard pressed to find a new m6800 anywhere now. You could probably realistically push beyond these implement limitations in the real world, depending on your soil type and conditions, but I wouldn't recommend it.
