Just a compliment on my M6800 starting this winter. No matter how cold or how long it has sat,my tractor would fire up and run great in any weather.Am I lucky or are a lot of the newer diesels like this ?

From my experience with 3 diesel tractors over the last 20+ years, that is normal for our area with the coldest temps being generally not much below zero. Hit the glow plugs for a little bit and twist the key. I'd imagine there are colder places where some type of heater may be needed. Tractors = 1980's Ford 1210, 2000 B7500 and 2012 L3200.

The newer diesels do start better in sub zero weather....but I always plug my block heater in when it gets really cold. I just hate thinking about those first couple of explosions hammering away at those pistons and cylinder walls of an engine that cold....ouch!
