I've inherited the task of repairing the M6800s at work. Changing the fluids and filters was no problem (although the goo that was built up in the water separator was so bad that the element was not cleanable). I've got a couple more tasks to do that I'm looking for some advice on, if anyone has any experience with this model... Naturally, we don't have the workshop manual for the machine, although we have ordered one.

The transaxle shifter (the lever that selects H/L F/R) is bent. It is held on by a pin that needs to be driven out, but the location is under where the seat goes and is covered. I've removed the seat (which will be replaced) and the left fender and can almost get to it. I'm going to remove the left tire tomorrow (I have to bring some tools from home to do it - we don't have large enough jackstands or sockets at work). That might give me enough room to get in there, but I'm thinking that I have to remove the sheet metal that is under the seat. True? If so, any hints or warnings?

I think that is the only problem that I need help with...for now.

Nope, I forgot one other thing. It looks like the lug nut size on that thing is 30mm. Is this correct? Thanks!

I think I use the 1-3/16" socket in my 3/4" drive set for the rears. Maybe they are only 1-1/8". I have no experience with a M6800 exactly but bigger and smaller. Kubota M sheet metal generally comes off without a fight - but when putting it back on leave all bolts loose until all are started. Any chance of driving the roll pin out of the lever with a long drift - or lever in another position? Sorry this isn't more help.

Thanks for the reply. Here's what I wound up doing...in case someone else runs into the same situation down the road.

The rears on the M6800 have 35mm lug nuts. I'm really glad we don't fill our tires - that thing is heavy enough as is :).

Once the tire is off, with the left fender and another section of sheet metal off I was able to get a long drift through one of the holes where the seat mounts and guide it with one hand underneath and the hammer up above. Worked like a charm.

It also turns out that there are five or six different M6800 models listed in Kubota's parts book. Depending on the serial number there are a couple of different models they produced. This gave my parts guy some headaches but he was able to figure it out. He thinks he'll remember the details until at least next Tuesday ;-)...
