Don't think there is a model M5400 T - there's M5400 and M5400 DT (dual traction) and M5400 DT-N (dual traction- narrow)

Thanks rbargeron,

I have a picture of a sticker which shows the Model number. I was so sure it was 5400T that I went to crop and attach a picture of it. What I discovered is you are right. :)

The D was blending in with the 00's in my brain until I zeroed in on it on the picture. It is a M5400DT which you mention is Dual Traction, mystery solved. Thank you!

I got it Tuesday, 1999 model, 1200 hours. Seems to be a pretty nice rig, is my first time around a Kubota, so hope it gets along good with me and vice versa.

Thanks for your feedback, you were spot on. -Daron

Hi Daron - Congrats on getting a M series! The M5400 is a lot of tractor. With only 1200 hours it should give you many years of service. There were 4 models in that series - M4700, M4900, M5400 and M5700 - all are well-regarded. They use the F2803 5-cylinder engine - smooth, powerful, and run forever - had been introduced in the 50 and 60 hp L3 models and were known inside Kubota as a fortress. Good find! Got pics?

Congrats on the tractor. I bet it will work out great for you. I have a 4900 and a 7040. I prefer to run the 4900.

Here are a couple...

It comes with dual rear remote hydraulics (I think this was an option??)
Hydraulic top link on the 3pt
Hydraulic leveler on the right side 3pt
quick attach original bucket which was not used much before
quick attach pallet forks

So far, so good. I gelled it up within about the 2nd hr running it. It's going now and parked inside again so I will run it after the temps are better and then be more ready for cold weather next winter.

It came with an extra front rim / tire that both seem very brand new also. Not sure why the guy had that on hand. Good to have around in case I need one I guess.

Hi Daron - I've found that some 12x16.5 R4 tires are so stiff that they can be under-inflated and look ok. One of mine was low on air and came off the rim under load (DOOH!). The rim was ok but the bead cords looked bent afterward so I remounted it with a tube and it's been ok. Maybe the prior owner of your M5400 had a dismount and bought a new tire and rim just in case. Prompt cheerful refund if theory is bogus. Dick B
