Yes, there are tricks to using belt balers. some work with certain brands some don't. 5030's way is good,so is CCI's. But these are either acquired tricks,or they require more equipment.

Other rakes can work too besides v-rakes. I preffer 3pth mounted rotary ones myself,much more versatile for my operation.

Here in Minnesota folks don't care for soft-core balers. They (the bales) sag over time, and do not store well outdoors - rain/snow soaks in. Also can't get as much hay in the same sized bale.

I've never used one, but that is the auction talk of many sources. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Gehl also makes a few models of fixed chamber.

Belt baler is king around here, by far. The NH chain & bar models hold their value too.

I have a 4500 rolled with it for 4 years now, bought it used, have no idea how many rolles it has rolled, but I rolled 650 with it this year, I am looking at another one with net wrap now. love it
