M Series Hydraulic Shuttle

I’m getting very close to pulling the trigger on a M9000 low profile. The only question left is whether to go with a manual or hydraulic shuttle. I will not have a FEL attached. I will use it for mowing and doing chores in close quarters. I’m the type of person that keeps a tractor for a long time, and I like simple reliability. Does the M series hydraulic shuttle work well? Is it reliable? The price difference is about $1,500.

I have a M6800 with Hydraulic shuttle.Never had any problems this far...werks good for mowing loader work, whatever else. Defintely wouldn't trade it for a manual.

Thanks for the input Ed. My current understanding based on what I have read is that you keep the RPM at 1300 (or lower) when you use the hydraulic shuttle, and then once you are moving you raise it to working speed. Is this correct?

Also have a M6800 with hydraulic shuttle. We don't have but about 60 hours on the tractor and I've already grown to appreciate the option. I don't know about the longevity of the shuttle shift, but from what our dealer said, they last longer then the manual shuttles. I guess the tractor's hyrdaulics do a better job of precisely actuating the clutch then a human foot. Supposedly saves on clutch wear.

It is easier on the system to lower the RPM before the shuttle change. One of the biggest advantages of the hydraulic shuttle is that the clutchs will out last a dry clutch by several times. At a price of $1500 you would have that money saved with the first dry clutch replacement and then some.
