LX4900 won't show Neutral on dash and won't start because of it.

Any insight into why my tractor won't recognize Neutral? It is currently stuck out in the woods because it won't start. I am able to shift between gears and rock the tractor but it won't show the big green N on my dash and start. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

Yanmar LX4900 Hydro static with 160hrs on it.

Take the cowling off around the steering wheel. there is a switch under there somewhere that is activated by the power reverser lever. Go from there. Only take a few minutes to see if it is being actuated correctly from a mechanical point of view. If it is then better drag out some electrical diagnostic skills. It is not real complicated with computers and such but still can be a head scratcher. I may be incorrect about the switch being there, but I seem to recall seeing something when I was in there adjusting the linkage for a better feel. I hope it is not internal to the transmission. You will need a service manual for that.

OOPS I just noticed yours is a hydrostatic. What I said does not apply. I am sorry for lifting your hopes but left this here for some gear tractor owner future ray of hope. Your switch must be down in the pedal area. Let us know how you fare and hopefully someone else will jump in with the gold nugget.

Below where the hst gear shifter rod enters the transmission housing there is a wired connection covered by a small rubber boot. Is that connection and boot intact? I'm wondering if that cable got snagged or dirt or mud got under the boot and is preventing a clear connection with the wiring.
