LX188 Starter install

Hi Everyone: I have a LX188 with a 17 HP Kawasaki engine that needed a solonoid. I had to remove the starter in order to proprerly install the solonoid. The starter now spins fine but it does not appear to engage the flywheel properly as there is a rattle as it the gears are just glancing off each other.

Any idea how to fix this. I removed and reinstalled the starter and it is the same.
