Was at the JD dealer and thought I'd get a couple extra shear pins for my LX-5 mower. Parts guy couldn't find it on the parts diagram and said it didn't have one. In looking at the manual it looks like the mower has both the slip-clutch and a shear pin in case the slip-clutch seizes up. Anyone know for sure?

Regards,
Mike

Mine had one--I think that it had an allan head (sp?) on it.

Yes, there is a shear bolt. I think its about 5/16 or so low grade bolt. Use a self locking "poly" nut and don't tighten much at all.

Double check size before you go buy a bunch of them. I used to have to replace them every 8 hours of cutting until I realized that tightening them too much made them weaker. Now they last maybe 25 hours of heavy cutting.
