Finally, after several years, a simple lumber mill has been cobbled together. It may not look like much but has proven workable on the few logs it's had to square up.:D :D

Reminds me of Logosol. Just a question: the blade cuts sticking up in the air like this? How do you manage to push the chainsaw head, is there a handle for it?

I run small log mill from baileys with my chainsaw, works for my needs.

In the first picture the blade is set for "High Logs".:D :D

In this picture it may be a little easier to see how it works. The saw swivels and spacers can be added or removed to make different width boards.

The saw is moved using the handle.

Mornin Egon,
Nice simple setup ! :) I helped my neighbor setup the attached sawmill making various missing parts etc, its an old Lane and we had a ball getting it running. The Farmall C in the pis didnt have the guts to run it very well so we created a friction drive with an old tire and rim and hooked it up to a bigger tractor !

The white oak kitchen extension table that I built last winter had some of its lumber sawed on this sawmill ! ;)

BTW I see you have your planer setup right next to the mill, big production there !

Very ingenious, Im sure there will be alot of views and people thinking about how they canbuild one. I know a guy who made using an aluminum extension latter as base. He said it worked 'OK" but went on to build one using a band saw blade.
Quite amazing how he made that one, even so , that he bolted it together, No welding to the metal frame at all.
nice job
Al

OK, I looked at it early in the morning - and the second picture helped too.
I have two maples awaiting milliing currently, but waiting for the weather to cool down a bit.

There is an active milling group on Yahoo with lot of pictures and some of the setups are just amazing.
