So a Honda pioneer 500, Yamaha 4 wheelers and sxs's have the same bolt patterns for rims found out recently cuz I dedicate old worn out takeoff tires and rims leaving permanently mounted chains on them for winter use so I just change tires and rims instead of taking chains off and on every season, I'll use zip ties and bungees to hold chain tighter found beneficial dealing with low psi ATV tires. Wondering others tricks or knowledge determining bolt patterns on rims? I know some print off a paper template I guess maybe even measure distances with a caliper or something? Someones knowledge might be beneficial to others including me even dealing with various trailer rim bolt patterns also.

Trailer wheels, or multiple manufacturers with 4 and five or more lug automobiles? A cheap simple jig with sliding movable lugs might be handy? Maybe some folks are a distance from a tire shop drive such beat up vehicles when a cheap set of used tires on rims comes up for sale or even consignment auction but your not certain it will fit your beater?

If you make a jig, be sure to use conical "bolts" so the stud diameter doesn't matter. Then come up with a formula for measuring between two studs on a 5-lug wheel.
There are cheap and simple calipers specifically for the purpose in case you want something already made.
Oh, and keep in mind that there are bolt patterns that are very close in diameter, but not interchangeable. 5x115 and 5x114.3, for example.
