RCR, I know what you mean. Just be careful, some joints are sealed and if you pump until the grease flows you'll have bigger problems down the road.
That's why I like to use a hand pump. I can feel when it's encountering resistance and I know I've either filled a sealed joint or I've blocked the port with debris.
