I'm changing the lubtricants in my ford backhoe.According to the manual It calls for M2C-134-B/C 10w30 for everything. rear axle, transmission, hydraulic system, power steering....this just seems odd....is this just 10w30 motor oil?

It's multi-grade oil, but NOT motor oil. Yes, all those things you mentioned use Multi-G 134 or equivalent. It makes buying fluids easy. All you need is a good diesel motor oil, the hydraulic/transmission fluid, and grease.

as jinman said.. it's a universal fluid good for power steering.. manual and shuttle, and HST trannies, rear ends, final drives, front axles.. etc..e tc.

it's generically sold at farm stores and napa and even walmart.. just look fro the m2c134 rating to be at least to your minimums.. IE.. 'B' current one is 'D'

some mor ethan others.

tsc usually is about 35-50$ and walmart 45-50, depending on what they are stoking between the 2.

I went to NAPA and got valvolin W813. $127 for 5 gallons........I hope it's the right stuff.........I already changed the fluids in the tranny and power steering.......I need 10 more gallons for the rear end.

napa 27-200 i believe is their number for a 5g pail of UTF.. and shouldn't be much more than 50-60$

I'm not sure what you bought.. but for 127$.. you could probably buy a couple pails of CNH ambra multi-G 'dealer brand' oil..

i think ya got took!

I checked around and the price is pretty much the same everywhere I looked. The label states this is good for the ford M2C-134-B/C.......at any rate I've already used it and would rather get took for $127 than rebiuld a tranny:

Valvolineョ Unitrac Fluid
A multi-purpose all-weather tractor hydraulic fluid. Recommended for use in the following tractor systems:
hydraulic
final drive
transmission
differential
wet brake

another quick question. The emergency brake holds but there are no brakes using the pedals. The rear end is really low on oil. Would that affect the brakes?

the generic walmart fluid for 50$ won't kill yer tranny.. it meets the same specs.

the 60$ napa fluid won't kill yer tranny.. meets the same specs.

you could likely order 2 pails of the less costly fluid and have them SHIPPED to u=you, CHEAPER than the 127$ valvoline stuff.

whatever.. your money... must have plenty of it to burn, at that price.

it certaintly won't hurt anything.. except.. that I would not mix fluids.. so if you are in for some of the expensive stuff.. you are certaintly in for ALOT of the expensive stuff. but.. seems money isn't an issue, so you've got no problem with the premium oil.

ps.. that napa number was 27-200 and has been superceded now to 85-405 at 5gfor 64$

also meets the m2c2XX specs..

LOL.......not hardly......said here in this post that NAPA sold it.....so I went to NAPA and this is what they had......it wasn't until I already changed the oil that I seen there is less expensive oil out there.
