Lubricant Suggestions

The lubrication specs for my LS 3039H call for the following lubricants:

Engine Oil: API CF-4 or CG-4 SAE 20W/40
Transmission/Hydraulic API CL-4

Front Axle Oil: API GL-4, SAE 80W

Any recommenations as to what products you're using?

I just hit 10 hrs. and want to find out which fluids I should use.

Any oil that meets those specs. Oil on the internet is a hotly debated topic. Check out any truck, motorcycle or equipment forum for any number of dire, your engine will die, warnings if you don't use my favorite oil. Yet, you never read of any oil related failures unless they ran dry, or just never changed it.

in your temp range I bet a standard diesel 15w40 would be fine.

as for gearboxes.. if it calls for gear oil vs utf.. I'd use what it called for on a new machine.. hyds sumps.. find out specifically.. especially if it's a shared sump.

The lubrication specs for my LS 3039H call for the following lubricants:

Any 15w40 will work in those specs. It's calling for a 20w in Winter weather, 40 weight in Summer weather. All those listed spec's are anywhere from 15 to 25 years old. The new spec is CJ-4. So any 'off the shelf' 15w40 will work.

Any 80w90 gear oil will work, again - whatever off the shelf.
