LT 180

I have a LT 180 with 302hrs. on it. Have had the machine about 7 years......mow about 2 ac. of grass....lots of hills.....run chains most of the year due to Pacific Northwest weather. I take really good care of this machine but unfortunately my transmission is going out. Won't climb hills any longer. Looks like about $800 to replace tranny and drive belt. The big question......is it worth it? Right now I am thinking it is.....everything on this tractor works well. Engine is strong....deck is in great shape. I am thinking if I can get another 7 yrs out of a new transmission......should be good investment. Thoughts?????

We have had several failures on those drive units. Almost all involved hilly areas. $800 is pretty cheap for that repair. Is that a new transaxle or reman? You may want to consider a 300 series for your next machine.

Thanks for the quick reply Kevin. The repair quote is actually $856 for a new trans. and drive belt. This is from the John Deere dealer I bought the unit from....they're good people to deal with. I am really thinking of having the work done........like I mentioned.....the rest of the unit is in great shape. Hope to get another 5-7 years out of it. Thanks again for the reply.
