LS XR4155 absolutely no power

I got a LS XR4155 Hydro with 750 hrs on it, the other day I drove it to my buddies house 2 miles away and it ran just fine, I did a little 20 min job and headed back home. I got a 1/2 mile from his house and it just started bogging down in 3rd gear, had to back off the pedal to keep rpm's up, when I hit a small hill I had to shift to 2nd to get up the hill.

My first thought was, just needs fuel filter changed, that didn't help also checked and cleaned the air filter.

Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Drop any codes on dash during this excitement. Losing RPM’s or speed you did not specify. Lastly your shifting ranges on hydro not shuttle shift. At 800 hours you have changed hydrostatic filters and oil. The hydro oil is hydroscopic it will draw moisture over time. Other thing to watch is return lines making sure no leakage. This can allow cavitation in oil this will slow machine down and cause noise or whine. I am sure one of the members will share other ideas experiences.

Did you try loosening the fuel tank cap to see if it affects power? Possible fuel tank can't breathe?

First things first. Is it low on fuel? Have you drained the water out of the fuel filter. Maybe time for a new fuel filter. Low or dirty fuel is generally the culprit.

Check the air cleaner for obstructions. Mice/dirt dobbers ect.. Check the exhaust for the same thing.

Possible clog in tank restricting fuel flow. Algae, gunk, etc.

I had this happen to me last yr , I got fuel where i normally do, tractor ran fine for at least an hr then lost power and kept dying , station admitted they had bad fuel , I had to replace both filters and drain entire system , Hope you find the problem.

You may have the early stages of the hand throttle failing. Mine had similar symptoms and grew progressively worse. Replaced the hand throttle assembly, and it works as it should.

You correct on the throttle it seems to fail at higher hours. I have read numerous articles on throttle issues all failures are resultant of the resistive strip failing resulting in loss of RPM’s it defaults to idle position, failing safe. There is also calibration required after new resistive strip is installed helping it find low and high settings. Just putting new one on without calibration may not solve issues.

I am also a XR 4155 owner but with only 200 hours, so far no trouble but thanks everyone for posting about the issue so if it happens to mine someday I might have a clue how to hopefully fix it.
