2014 LS U5030 55hp open deck
I'm looking at a U5030 with no cab and found a XU5055C with a cab. The U5030 is tier 3 while the XU5055C is tier 4. Not sure how many have either tractor, but in your opinion, is the tier 3 the way to go versus a tier 4 with all kinds of pollution equipment added to the engine or is there no concern with a tier 4? I would think there would be less problems down the road with a tier 3 instead of a tier 4, but I may be wrong. What do you think?

I cant give you any advice on the tier 4 engines, I would want to wait a few years to see how they do before buying one. Kind of puts you in a bad spot if you are looking to buy right now. The cab would be nice on the 5055, but I can tell you from experience that the 5030 is a great tractor, no problems with my 2013 U5030C.

I have a 1-1/2 year U5030 and am trying to go with the XU5055c (see my thread on the LS forum if you haven't). Love the tractor and at the time of purchase couldn't swing the extra $ for a cab version. Situation has changed. As stated in my most recent post, I do not have any worries about the Tier 4 motors in the larger tractors. Rather than treating the exhaust, they are cleaning it up on the intake side with the common rail motors (not just LS/Shibaura/Mitsubishi, but most manufacturers of the larger HP motors). Several good TBN threads on those in many forums. I can't speak highly enough about the 5030, just hankering for a cab.
