Anyone else who has the 232h or 242h have a lot of "up and down" play in the steering wheel? Just bought the tractor yesterday and noticed it as soon as I got home. Side to side is good but up and down is pretty sloppy.

My MT240 has about an inch of play. It's probably the same components as yours.
Seems tension is kept in the upwards direction, the play is only in the downward direction.

Thanks for the response guys! I asked the same question on Facebook and it sounds like it's pretty normal. I think im still going to call the dealer and see what they have to say. If I don't get far with that, I guess I will be tearing it apart. Lol

I looked at a new 242 today on the dealer lot. With tilt steering locked in position, the steering wheel only moved up and down about 1/4 inch. Don't know if the lock mechanism is different on this new model than on the older models. An inch movement on a 240 is pretty bad. There are small teeth on the lock mechanism that sometimes strip out from the lock pawl not engaging completely if the release lever sticks and does not go all the way back to the locked position.
