I shut down the tractor this morning and went inside for breakfast. When I came out to start it there was not dash lights nor would the engine turn over. I removed the panel to which the switch is mounted to access the fuses. The fused ok. While the panel off and switch still connected I turned on the key and the dash lights came on as did the starter engage. Great, back to work.
Worked two hours when engine started losing rpms, then it would regain rpms. This happened three times in about 10 minutes before it finally died at which point there was no dash lights and the starter would not engage.
I removed the panel again, this time disconnecting the switch. The disconnected plugs at the switch tested 12.94 volts indicating to me a good battery and a bad ignition switch.
If the main 40amp fuse were blown would the battery test 12.94 v at the switch?
Is there something I may be over looking?
Are safety kill switches wired thru the dash and ignition or just ignition? I am thinking sinct the dash is dead there is no need to check kill switches.
Thanks
