I was mowing with my Massey Model 1010 compact tractor using a 5 foot finish mower, seems to be running fine, then the light indicating low oil pressure comes on. I shut it off and checked the oil and it was 3/4 quart low. I added the oil started it up and the light comes back on. Today I went back, started it up, no light, mowed for about 15 mins. it comes back on. The oil looked pretty dark, so I changed the oil and filter, using Rowtella 10W30. Starts up, no light, after just a few mins of mowing it comes back on.
What else should I check before I haul it off to a dealer? Is there a place to hook up an oil pressure gauge to see what the pressure really is? Could it just be a faulty light? I never noticed any difference in how the tractor ran.
