Ah yes the old Hydro whine strikes again... I was hoping that was all that it was. And yes the wife's description of the table saw is a little better one than the pig killing thing.:D A couple of tips,: when the whine is really loud, (after checking to see if the parking brake is on) drop down a range on the range selector on your left side. The machine will be lots happier and so will you. and when you have the pedal floored and it is screaming, try letting up a little. Remember HI range is just for traveling on nice flat roads without a heavy load preferaby in 2WD, when you want to go fast. M is for mostly flat ground and moderate loads when you want to go as fast as you can without unduly loading the machine. L is for any kind of hilly work or when heavily loaded when you need maximum torque.. Since I live on the side of a hill, mine stays in L about 90 percent of the time. The hand throttle varies when doing work from about 1500 all the way up to about 2350 or so. but usually in the high "teens" unless I need some more grunt then up it goes. You work the hydro pedal as needed for the ground speed desired, and if the engine starts to lug down, back off of the hydro pedal a bit and/or give it some more fuel with the hand throttle. When engaging the PTO hand throttle down to about 1000 or so, push in the clutch , engage the PTO lever, slowly let out the clutch, then slowly throttle up to the 540 mark on the tach or less if the cutting will be easy. When disengaging the PTO, slowly throttle down, to around 1000 or so, push in the clutch, disengage the PTO lever, let out the clutch, throttle up and go on your way. The procedure reduces a lot of stress on the PTO components as well as your mower. I hope we have helped you to enjoy your tractor a little better, and be not shy in coming back for more advice if needed..Good Luck and enjoy your new tractor.

Most new owners(including me) don't realize that"with the HST,less pedal means more power" let up and it gears down, more power less speed.Only use of High range should be on the road.I took me a year to realize this!

HST ...doesn't gear up or down (unless you change ranges) it is a hydraulic piston pump turning a hydraulic piston motor.

if you go fast more power goes to the wheels ..letting up on the pedal doesn't equate to more power ...it will allow more power for other applications if you aren't using that power to drive the wheels.

I also have an L3200.

It is much louder than my B7510.

The worst whine is when the tractor is yelling at you.

It usually means the parking brake is on ! I keep forgetting it all of the time and she is very unhappy when you try to drive like that.

The HST is loud normally especially if it is your first one.

I wish i could TAZER myself if I try to drive with the brake on:mur:

Cheers,

RD

Go to Radio Shack and buy a microswitch, some hookup wire, a small 12 volt panel lamp. Mount the panel lamp on your dash (I mounted mine beside the headlight switch), one wire to the switch and from the switch to a hot terminal on the fuseblock. The other to a ground under the dash. Mount the microswitch behind the brake pedal arm so the switch is energized (light is on) with the pedal depressed and locked. You'll never forget to release the brake again because the light will be on and in your face....

Very simple solution and cheap as well. About 5 bucks. Got one on the M9 and the 105.
