Just a heads-up to any mower shoppers in my area. I went to the Lowes on the Berlin Tpke today. They have begun marking down the riders and push mowers... even a few Garden Tractors.

FYI - they were selling some Troy-Built, and Cub Cadet, and Husky tractors... both lawn and garden tractors. It's worth looking into if you want to find a deal.

Take Care,

Are the Husky tractors the same as the Huskee tractors that TSC sells? G

No, they are the Husqvarna tractors. There was a Troy-Built there .. bout 18hp, I don't recall the model, but it came with a rear bagger... going for $750. It was already sold of course. I would have taken that in a second. Even if it isn't the best out there, I for one rarely need to own the best just to cut my lawn. I'll probaly stop back tomorrow and see if there are any more bargains.

A friend of mine missed out on his chance for a great deal. He was at the Deere dealer at lunch-time this week. He looked at a 2004 GX345 w/ diff. lock they had in stock. The manager said "I'll make you a real deal on that one today - $6,300 out the door tax and everything. It's the last one I've got this year." My now sad friend said let me think about it and be back to check it out after work - went back after work just in time to see another fellow loading it up.

Man, 6K for a lawn/garden tractor.... I must be behind times.

I can get a used JD 2240 for that much.... and it's a 50HP tractor w/ a Cat 1 and 2 3pt......

How good a job would a 2240 do cutting the lawn? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Steven CT,
Glad to see someone giving discounts. I went to our local Lowes after your post. Manager said they never give discounts on their lawn tractors at his particular store. Says he has no problem selling them in late season at regular price. I really liked the Troy-Bilt 17.5 hp. Bought the last one for $999.99. Did not mind giving regular price. Design is almost identical to my old wards 12 hp. that has lasted 23 yrs. With proper care, I believe new one will last a long time.

That's good to hear - I'd like to get a bargain lawn tractor to hold me over. I'd really like one of the more expensive garden tractor variety - but frankly I just can't justify the cost right now... too many other places for my $$ to go. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Wow 6,300! I got a good used IH444(40HP, 4,000 LB) tractor with loader and Bush hog for less than that! Could have picked up a 7 ft finish mower too and still been under 6,300.

Guess I am just behind the times and sort of like it that way /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
