You could check the compression on each cylinder as it could be a blown head gasket?

Going to check compression and check for excessive pressure in the radiator before doing compression test. I have heard parts are not available so I will be trying block sealer if it is not a head gasket.

Be wise; make an early purchase of a replacement as the present one will only cost money and probably not preform properly without a Complete rebuild.

Some cracks are hard to find without proper diagnostic equipment and procedures.

I am looking for a replacement engine or mower. The 200 series Toros weren't the heaviest duty but we've got 20 years out of it for $2400. It is in pretty good condition other than the seat and the engine at the moment. I was told the Mitsubishi L3E Toro blocks were proprietary and other L3E blocks might not be a drop in.

There is a Toro L3E about 4 or 5 hours away for $1.000. I'd have to do a compression test before buying.

With a new head or block not available, I don't see many options if I have cracks instead of a head gasket issue.

I'm wide open to suggestions
