Hi, I was trying to go up to a bank to retrive a fence post and spun out getting there. Slope maybe 12-15 degrees . I thought it would make it, but with 4wd spun out anyway. I was surprised. I have a Kubota about 1900lbs bare , 4wd and front loader and a rear brush cutter and loaded tires added. Still spun out. What is the expected slope anyone can get up on or is the weight of everything going to tie me down.

I spin out all the time tryiny to get up my 1200 ft slope. I wait till it is really dry and give it my best shot. Scary backing down though when you don't make it to the top. I have loaded tires, 800 #'s on the back and a FEL. When I realize I won't make it to the top i drop my Box scaper, stand HARD on the brakes and lower my bucket to back drag the ruts as I slowly slither in reverse back down the hill. A lot of variables come into the picture.

Not too steep. You should have been able to climb 15 degrees easy unless it was wet ground then all bets are off. Without traction, weight and 4WD are rather irrelevant. Please be careful using a FEL on slopes .. that's a dangerous combination.

What tires? I have 2 sets; one set of R4's not loaded to give me some 'flotation' and a set of loaded R1 tires. Unless I'm dragging bottom really bad, I have never had any issues with the loaded R1's. It may not be the same though, with my tractor decked out in that configuration with the FEL on and heavy rear implement, I am closer to 12k to 13k. If it's reeeeeally goopy, I go with a tracked machine with wide tracks.

That certainly does not seem to be a very steep slope to be spinning out on. What configuration is the tractor in when it happens? FEL bucket full or empty, 3PT, what is on it. I regularly do slopes greater than that with my B7800 and generally only lose traction when the 3PT implement is slowing me or the front end loses contact with the ground on one side.

Try creeping up the slope in low range with throttle set at idle, it works for me. That way, it doesn't give the tires much chance to spin so they maintain traction. If that doesn't work, try going up the slope in reverse also at idle. The front to rear weight distribution can make a difference. Also, I assume you have the front axle engaged? Just checking.....

I have rear Rice tires and even if rear axle is locked it loses forward traction. I quess I have to take it slowly. Thanks all

Pick whatever answere you wish as there are some variables involved!:D

I've spun my pickup tires on nearly flat ground, wet grass. Traction is the key.

Good biting tire chains would help.
