Cub Cadet XT1
Hello,
I have finally realized why my loan mower(Cub Cadet xt1) will not start sporadically. It is because it thinks the blades are engaged because the lever that engages the blades is loose. So in its “resting” state It is tripping the safety switch. When I pull back on the lever it starts right up. I cannot figure out how to start up the lawn mower without pushing the lever back. It is very difficult to have foot on pedal, pulling lever back turning key, and using choLe as it requires another pair of hands.

Any help on this before I send off and spend a few hundreds of dollars for service?

Welcome to TBN

Your definition of "loose" needs more description. Maybe a photo would help.

Is it loose because it is worn or because it's out of adjustment?

Can the safety switch be move some to compensate ?

I tend to see where the lever gets bent on these. Like it caught on a branch or something. If so, a well placed bar from the side and you can tweak it back if that's the case. Works until it gets bent again. Or there is too much debris on the top of the deck that prevents the arm on the deck from retracting all the way.
