Did something without the CEO today. I have been having troubles with my Redmax Brushcutter all summer and I finally got fed up. Went down to the local Stihl dealer and bought me a FS250 brush cutter. I got home to try her out and man what a machine!!! I had the 6" string head on her and I was wacking down knee high thick grass as fast as I could swing her. The 40.2cc engine is really powerfull. It has the bike style handles and I really like the balance they provide. She only weighs 13lbs which is only 2lbs heavier than my little 25cc Redmax. Then the CEO pulled in.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif....busted. She did not get to mad.......but she thought I should have fixed the other one instead. Oh well......I hope she still loves me!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif If any of you TBNer's are in the market for a really heavy duty weed wacker/brush cutter take a look at the Stihl FS250. She is a beauty.

I bought the same one last fall. Yeah buddy! that thing will go through the weeds. I also sprung for the blade. the blade takes care of the thicker stuff real well so you don't use up so much line.

Well I have not taken any pics of the new Stihl but they have a good web page at stihl.com and it shows pics and specs on their equipment.

One of the problems I have with my Echo SRM-1500 (I also installed the bicycle handles) is that high weeds/brush tend to wrap themselves around the cutting head forcing me to stop every few minutes to unwrap them. Does the Stihl have this problem?

I had that same problem with the Redmax....It is not a problem with the Stihl. I was cutting some knee high stuff over the weekend and I managed only once to plug the head. Where as with the Redmax it was a common problem in the tall stuff. The only problem I have had is picking the bits of grass from my teeth since I have a big-ole-grin on my face when using her. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks for the info...I just called a few local dealers. None had it in stock and I now know why your CFO had issues. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

AAAAAHHHH The price we pay for our tools. I got sticker shock as well but let me tell you it was well worth every penny. I cut an area that always took a couple of hours with the little Redmax.....this time I was done in 30 minutes!!!! I told the CFO that now I have more time to do more work for her!!!!!! And trust me she found some things for me to do. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hillsider,

Can you give us a hint on how much the FS 250 cost? I have an FS85 which is just a wee bit smaller. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif But it has done everything I have asked it to do. Unfortunetly I have some work to do and I have been looking at the FS250/350 or a DR Mower.

Thanks,
Dan

Well I called around and every dealer gave me the same price. Brace yourself.........439.00 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif So I just went to the local dealer and shelled her out....well knowing that my CFO was going to have to get re-babtized from the discriptive words she would soon utter!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tell your CFO that you saved money when compared to the poor guy on TBN who spent $639 on Husky brush cutter that weighed 18lbs, only to buy a 10lb grass trimmer the following year for $279. Your 13lb model is the best of both worlds and you saved almost $500. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yeah, my wife doesn't buy those stories either, but I try. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
