anybody have one of these?? It looks like it has single bolt tines. Do the tines move around much? I really want a landscape rake to clean up some area I have cleared.

It is a good price. But it isn't verry wide. You want your rake to be at least 2 ft wider than your tractor so that when you angle it you will cover your tracks.

I have the 6 foot version of this rake. I like it alot for the money. It does everything I expect. Certainly not the best out there, but a very good value in my opinion.

ps I wouldn't go smaller than 6 feet. The 6 footer works perfect for my trails and driveway. If you have no width contraints, I would even go 7 feet.

Wow. The 8' costs the same as the 7'! Heck... Maybe I'll have to add one of these to my wish list...

I live 30 miles from the Howse Implement Co. manufacturing plant and I bought the 7 ft model landscape rake for a total of $325 from them. The 7 and 8 foot models come with a longer shaft or main beam which places the rake about a foot and a half futher back from the tractor. This helps when raking a large pile of brush and keeps from bunching the pile into the back of the tractor. It does make manuvering around between trees or timber more difficult.
Howse has been around a long time and manufactures a better line of equipment than when they first began. I think they now compare to the name brands of most implement manufacturers.
Your price shows the markup. I'm sure Howse still made a profit on my buy.

I have a Howse rake and it works well. I also have the York Modern rake and it works even better. I find that the tines on the York brand to be "springier" than those of the Howse. I have used the Howse for rough landscaping work where I have a lot of rocks to pull out and level the land. I use the York brand rake to do the finer finish work. I have owned the York for many years and I got the Howse as part of a package of used implements. If I were to own only one, it would be the Howse, because it will pull more rocks, but it is crude compared to the way that the York is made and works. In this case, I have the best of both worlds.
