Alpocat, I doubt that either 1 of those tractors are any taller than my 3110. Exhaust height shouldn't be a problem. My garage opening is about the same as yours & my ROPS will fit. So, you should have any problems. The ROPS will fold down

Oh, one more thing and I'm sure it's not this way in every state. If someone's buys a tractor from an out of state dealer and then they move it to Georgia, you are supposed to report and pay the Georgia sales tax, right?

No sales taxes from out of state transfer. At least here in La. a tractor is not a licensed, titled, registered vehicle. About the same thing as moving with your furniture. Also I do not think sales tax would apply to someone moving with a previously owned vehicle (car or truck). More like does your state require sales tax for out of state mail order purchases? An "Affidavit of Domicile" will wave State Taxes if you reside in another, never being Taxed twice,in the case of a large purchase No Tax at all (same as mail order).

Alpocat, I think 4wd is a good choice. As for the exhaust I believe kenmac has his pointed straight down and California has his pointed straight to the front, to the front really reduces the noise. I do not know if this works with all or few models but it is just a thought. Good luck with whatever you get.

Technically on mail order or iternet purchases from a business that has no store in your state you are supposed to report the $ amount on your state taxes and pay your state sales tax on that dollar amount.

IE. if i buy from Bassproshops.com i pay sales tax, because there are stores in my state. If i buy from cabellas.com i dont pay sales tax as there is not one here in SC.
So assuming i make a $100 purchase at both stores(well assume free shiipping from both at that price point as to not muddy the waters) bass pro i will pay a total of$106 the original $100 of merchandise with $6 of tax. Cabelas will be $100 total. Just the merchandise price and no sales tax.
Assuming that was the only purchase made in a catalouge or on the net for an out of state business, i have to report that on my SC 1040 form. There is a line that should be filled out i would write 100 into it for my purchase then its multiplied by the state taxrate, 6% and then the total is written below, for a total of $6 which is added to my tax bill.

I gave such a detailed senario as i know many dont even know how taxes work and if you dont understand at all hopefully you can understand this. Not trying to talk down to anyone but the whole tax code is crazy.

Im just telling you what you are SUPPOSED to do take this knowledge and do what you wish with it.

Im not an attorney or tax person. I do have a masters in economics and i do my own taxes. I refuse to pay someone who to do something that i feel all americans need to know how to do and understand TAXES. If i owned a business rental property etc. i may do it then just to save on time, but i still want to know how it works and would still know how to do it myself, just have someone do it for the time is money type thing.

Wow that was rambling.

Thank You 'clemsonfor' for the information, It has been about 28 years since I've used an "Affidavit of Domicile" for an Out of State Purchase. For an Out of State Purchase of an automobile it makes sense so you are not taxed twice, Military is when I used it.

Even still, an "Affidavit of Domicile" gives an Out of State buyer the option to choose which State will get those Tax Dollars. Your advice to seek council at Tax time to ensure the legalities of of what must be done is well given.

Just one thing questions me. With new Internet age and all the online and Info-mercial purchases made to save on such expenses as taxes, How many actually fessup at tax time and pay?, or even check about their responsibility about paying the tax.

I sure hope a Politician does NOT read this! lol, I know they have been working on it.

I have never paid taxes on a used tractor, I also have never paid taxes on a online purchase unless the merchant operated in my state. I don't know if I'm suppose to or not, but I haven't and I doubt others do.

Shop around on the Yanmars, Fredrick's is a big name on here and they will surely have the size you want, but they like their tractors. A lot of dealers on here get their tractors from there.

As far as considering the other grey market brands, parts are obtainable but not quite as easily as the Yanmars now. I have used a 4 cylinder Mitsubishi and it is one smooth running machine. If you are venturing into the greys my suggestion would be stick with the Yanmar, imo they are the best.
