I'm new to the forums and have been viewing many articles for some time, expecially since we're closing on some land today. It's a modest 6 acres, 4 of which are cleared and the other has some pines. Its been a while since i've been around tractors and grew up on a Massey 231. I initially thought a garden tractor would cut it but i'm thinking otherwise, especially with the unkempt nature of the lot and some of the rough terrain that needs leveling. I know the MMM is expensive, but I plan on using the tractor to cut my grass at my current residence and once the area is tamed, I'll use it to cut my new yard as well.
So I've decided a tractor is the best as opposed to a lawntractor and have been shopping around. I've went and sat on these tractors and drove them around to get a feel for them and have some opinions on them. I know there is more to a tractor than the initial price and the dealer is important as well, but I don't plan on visiting him too often (i hope).
So i'm down to a few tractors but would be open to other opinions. I know some of these aren't apples to apples comparisons but I did the best i could. SO this is what i've been quoted so far and have not made 1 attempt at negotiating yet. I really wanted to see what all everyone was offering and which one i liked first
all prices are out the door prices. all are hydrostatic trans.
Kioti CK2410, with FEL, MMM $20,167, 0% for 60months
Kioti CS2410, with FEL, MMM $17,390, 0% for 60months (the dealer did not have this on the lot but this was what I was originally after)
Mahindra MAX24, FEL, MMM $20,865, 0% for 84 (this is a year or two old that has been on the lot) (they would take $1600 off if i went 0%/48, or $2600 if i paid cash)
Mahindra EMAX25, FEL,MMM $20,533, 0%for 84, this is factory fresh. also -$1600 if i went 0%/48), or for cash price, 17,751, but also have to factor in interest until i pay it off.
Branson 2400H, FEL, MMM $17,869, with 3.5% interest.
JD1025---FEL, MMM. the guy didn't appear interested in selling this as I practically had to beg him to ride it. he ballparked the price @ $23k
I'm figuring I can pay if off in 12 months so interest vs no interest isn't that big a deal, but I still have to factor in at least 1 year of interest that I'll have to pay.
Personally, I thought that CK2410 was the best riding tractor with the smoothest operating bucket and particularly loved the loader joystick right by the seat and not on the dash; and it looked more tractor-like than the others. The others seemed small in comparison to it. I liked the Branson but it didn't wow me like the Kioti. I thought the Mahindra was ok but didn't fall in love with it.
I'm wanting opinions on the prices quoted and what kind of wiggle room I can expect to get when negotiating. I figure if I'll ultimately try to get $1000 off the CK2510 with a free rotary cutter and I'd be happy.
sorry so long.
