Something with a slow first gear and a slow reverse . Live hydraulics . Live pto. A real drawbar. Real functional brakes . A pair of SCV . 12V electrical . Something that is not noted for flipping over onto the driver .
This eliminates the Ford N series and the like from the list .

Take a look @ RK Tractors if you live in the vicinity of one of their stores. There is an RK forum, feel free to scroll through the Threads and posts.

Is it cold where you reside? With snow removal on the menu, a cab tractor may be an advantage. Personally being over 65, the thought of doing winter work with an open platform tractor is in the "not going to happen catagory" Bought a new Massey 1742 with a seven ft blower last winter. I have a half mile drive to the highway. Also aquired a hydraulic angle blade for the front, moving snow with the bucket was painful. Do lots of research, hope you make a wise decision.

Welcome to the site. As stated read and soak up lots of the information on here before buying. Suggestion i have is try not to buy based on price alone, don't rush this unless you just have too, and if you have never had a tractor before try to go bigger than you think you need but still practical to your application. Because, Once you get one there is always the wish i would have thoughts that run through the brain. After the fact of course.....

Metalbender,

Advice on cab, could not agree more. Spent many winters using open station, last year that scenario ended. Plowing in a sweatshirt, no hat, no gloves, heater level set to " light toast", priceless. Also buckets are a pain, gouging ect, using snow pusher now, hydraulics not required.

I bought a Kioti CK4010 SEHC last year and love the tractor and it's reliability. Read everything you can on the tractor forums. Absorb all the information you can on all tractors. Eventually you will short list a few tractors for your detailed review. Check out your local dealers and their sales and service support; that's critical to happy ownership.

More first time tractor buyers are going for the factory cabs. They are cooler in summer and absolutely necessary for extreme winter cold.

Don't forget to allow current and future budget for your implements.
