Hi All,

I'm considering a either a 2520 or 3120 for my next tractor to replace my Economy Power King. The local dealers for me are; NASHUA OUTDR PWR EQ REP. INC , T & T POWER EQUIPMENT, INC. and JAMES R ROSENCRANTZ & SON.

I would be interested is hearing your after sales/repair and parts supply experience.

I have initiated contact with Rosencrantz and will contact the others this week. So far they are pleasant and helpful but in my experiences with other power equipment dealers, sometimes it is far different after the ink is dry.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Hey Tom, I have had dealings with James R. Rosencrantz in Kingstion and I must say they are pretty expensive. I could not get them to budge on the total price when I was pricing out my 2320 and attachments. The final price I paid at Shaw's Ridge equipment in Dover was the same final price at J + R but I got alot more goodies thrown in to like 2 sets of lights, I match and towing hitch, HO alternator, larger deck and so on. The down side to Shaw's is the trade in. I got hosed on that part of the deal. J + R wasn't going to give me only a few hundred more. I don't know if that helps you out but I find that dealing with Shaw's Ridge Equiip. the salesman and general manager was very nice talking to and try to help you out as much as they can. I sometimes use the other dealer for parts or accessories just to see what kind of pricing difference there is. Good luck hunting for the best dealer that will fit your needs. Russ

I had a similar experience with Rosencrantz in Kingstion a couple of years ago. I was told "I have a huge parts inventory and a large fleet of trucks so that is why my prices are so high". I priced a tractor at their Derry location this year and the price was high also. I had very plesant experience with Shaw's Ridge equipment in Ossipee N.H. who's price was better and the people easier to deal with. They didn't "throw anything in" but I was treated fairly.

I'm from northern MA. I recieved price quotes from Nashua Outdoor, Rozencrantz, and Padula Bros. in Lunenburg MA. Nashua Outdoor was thousands higher. So was Rozencrantz. But some telephone inquries to Nashua Outdoor on tractor options and accessories led me think that they don't know their stuff. Padula Brothers had the best deals available when I was pricing out tractors. They were thousands lower than everyone else. They gave me hundresds more for my trade. I finally purchased my tractor through them. They have a good selection on the lot and worth a trip.

I will second Padula Brothers.

I bought my first tractor from them and my second tractor was originally bought thru them.

I visit the parts department every saturday. The guys there are great.

Ask for Brian Mansfield..He is the owner...Great guy.

Rosencrantz is expensive, and the guys work on commision. I went to T&T in concord and wasn't thrilled at the price either. NH is expensive no matter what though. My cousin does some farming out in the Kingston NH area and said most of his friends go to Padula Bros for Farm equipment. I visited there a few years back for grins. Wasn't a flashy Yuppy showroom. Had a bunch of JD implements in the back. Their about a 1/2 or so from you I believe.

I've never been impressed by T&T in Concord. I had a guy who worked for me a couple of years ago who moved his tractor with him when he re-located have an absolutely miserable service issue with them. Miserable to the point he had to contact corporate JD. He ended up at Shaw's. I've tried to buy a few generic parts from them, I've tried three times, never have left with what I needed. Just my experience.

I thought I might buy a tractor from them since they had everything I was looking for in stock, and the prices seemed reasonable for the area...... no trade. I talked to them about it, but the conversation didn't go so well, and doubt that I will go back. It's too bad since they have some people there that really do seem to care. I can't say anything bad about them since I haven't bought a tractor, or anything major from them, but my pre buying experience could have been better. I've dealt with RN Johnson in Walpole for attachments, and such over the years, and my grandfather dealt there too, so I guess that's where I'll head if I decide on a green tractor........... good folks!

Not to beat them up anymore… I really don’t mean to do that, but I have been in there twice and talked to them several times on the phone regarding the 2305 & 2320 and, in no uncertain terms, they have shown impatience with me the last few times I spoke with them. Kinda like, ‘buddy when are you going to buy?’ I’m an easy guy to get along with and although I chewed up a total of a few hours kicking tires, I expect that from any establishment where I’m making a significant purchase. I think the sales experience is very telling of what the after-sale experience will be. Boils down to owner philosophy… For example, I’ve had the complete opposite experience where I buy my Volvos from (Lovering of Concord). Great dealer. Very customer oriented. I’ve bought four from them and wouldn’t buy or have them serviced anywhere else. Motto – what goes around, comes around.

Chuck, yes, RN Johnson seems to be a good dealer. My father bought a JD there back in the '70s and they seemed to be good from what I remember. I have gone in and talked to them at least twice as much as T&T and no problems. I started with T&T because they are easier to get to, but RN is where my money will go. Both are about an hour away. T&T gave me the impression they are reluctant to service the tractor up here over the border in VT whereas RN not only will service it but will pick it up and bring it back at no charge once a year during their winter service special.
