Hello,
I've been a member for a while now, just has never posted anything until now. I was wondering if someone would answer what's probality a dumb question. I bought a 2007 Kubota BX-24 with a LA-240( i think) Loader and a BT-601 Backhoe. Later I got a mid-mount mower deck. I'm over all happy with this tractor, being my first step up to a tractor from a riding mower. Which I'm still picked at bye friends who say I still have a riding lawn mower:laughing::drool:(LOL) Their just jealous, but my questions is, the book says not to have the Back-hoe attached when adding and using a mid- mower deck. Can the Back-hoe just sit on the tractor as long as it is not used. Or does it have to be completely removed to use the mower. I've had 15 back surgeries, so removing any attachment is a job for me, even though they are designed to be easy. Some one please tell me what the conflict is with the 2 units being on the tractor at the same time. Also being new to any kind of tractor, I would love to hear from experienced people with the same tractor and attachments, with any tips, short cuts or any kind of nice modifications that has proved to be helpful. Also anything that I might to have a heads up on, or things to watch out for. Please send me anything that has to do with this tractor or any of the attachments, ANYTHING. Please send them to BLOCKAIDRUNNER@GMAIL.COM
I hope I知 posting this in the right place, ain't to good on computers:confused2:, but can work on a tractor. :laughing:LOL
Thanks for reading
Alan

Re: LOOKING FOR SOME INFO. ON KUBOTA BX-24 W/ ATTACHMENTS

The reason for removing the BH is because you need the hydraulics for the lifting of the mowing deck. I would guess the you could leave the BH on and disconnect the lines and plug them together like they say in the book but then again that alot of weight on the back without the loader on the front. Not only that but leaving the FEL and BH on will make mowing difficult around object such as houses and tress ect ect ect.

If you need to remove them I would recomend looking at BXpanded's website. They make a set of dollies for the FEL and BH. Makes on and off a breeze. No lifiting or messing around. Roll it up, hook up your hydraulics, move the lever and insert the pins. Easy as pie. I made my own dolly for the FEL. Not as nice as the BXpaned but it worked. I will buy the BH dolly for sure.

Re: LOOKING FOR SOME INFO. ON KUBOTA BX-24 W/ ATTACHMENTS

Ideally you should remove the BH and FEL for mowing, if you want a quality cut. Weight and obstacles are the main issue.

On mine, the 3pt arms hit the BH subframe thus not allowing the MMM to reach it's intended cut height.

really there is no muscle involved in removing the impliments. 10 minutes and a little patience, that's all.

I don't believe that the 24 is any different than the 23 in this respect.

Re: LOOKING FOR SOME INFO. ON KUBOTA BX-24 W/ ATTACHMENTS

I am under the impression that the likfting mechanism and 3PT hitch utalize the hydraulics from the BH. I have not removed mine yet this is just what I read in the book. I am picking up my bagger today and hopefully this weekend I will mount the MMM and Bagger. So I will know then for sure. But you could try lowering the mower deck and see if it moves. Let me know I am curious now.

Re: LOOKING FOR SOME INFO. ON KUBOTA BX-24 W/ ATTACHMENTS

For the first 2 or so years when I was working on pulling rocks from my field I mowed the back field with the backhoe on with my BX24. This allowed me to stop and pull up a rock if (I mean when) I hit one.

On the BX 24 there is no interference with the BH and hydraulics are connected to the 3 point hitch not the backhoe. But as its been said the extra weight and length of the machine makes for a much different cut.

Welcome to TBN! you are right about the manual stating about a few odd things like do not use MMM with BH attached. It doesnt say why. a call to kubota says basically says its the bible so follow it. Same with liquid ballast. They dont condone having liquid ballast, but again says do not use with BH :confused: no explaination either.

I have used the mower with BH before, and never had an issue. However I seem to prefer to take it off to make it easier to mow. Its a feeling thing for me. We can list thousand reasons why you should take it off, but I can understand why you don't want to due to back issues.

This brings up another question, I am not sure why your back issues is a problem with removing the BH of the BX24 ? If you watch the youtube video from messicks, they show a wonderful way of using hydraulics to do all the work for you. YouTube - Removing the Kubota BX24 backhoe

Same with bxpanded- He has a really cool way of dismounting onto the dolly he invented. YouTube - FAST Kubota BX 24 Backhoe Installation with BXpanded Dolly

I don't use a dolly since I dont have a even surface. To be honest, I have no idea what could be a problem for you to take BH off. If you need to mow and use BH same week or something, I really don't see any issue with using the BH.

The only thing I suggest is to make sure you raise the 3pt upper arms up all the way before mounting the BH so when you drop the mower deck, the upper arms rests on the platform, when raising the deck again, its not working against the BH platform underneath.

Raising the mower deck can cause a pressure spike in the hydraulic "return to tank" circuit. This pressure spike can damage the backhoe control valve as valves are not usually designed to handle more than about 500 psi pressure on the tank side. The BH should be removed or at least, the hydraulic lines should be disconnected and the power beyond loop should be re-attached to the tractor.

You can sometimes feel this pressure surge in the power steering when turned full lock and the mower lift tops out. The steering wheel kicks slightly.
