the DF is a china made tractor but I don't have very much info on them. if you go to the ctoa site you may find lots more, but with their NEW bb I stopped going there... I think the site can be found here

You can go to the CTOA site and look, but unless you are a card carrying dues paying member you can't post questions.

It used to be a site where potential buyers or anyone with an interest in Chinese tractors could exchange info, now its a closed door group for patting each other on the back and telling each other how smart they are for not buying one of the "big 3".

It's too bad, I learned a lot about Chinese tractors, both their strengths and their weaknesses from the old site.

If you haven't already you can go to www.dftractor.com, www.norikerequipment.com or www.tractor-etc.com (I think Taskmasters are still made by DF) to learn more about DF.

Good luck

I am a member of the CTOA and you are so far off in your assumption it's pathetic. We have our own site so when we post a problem we don't have the big 3 butting in and saying we bought junk and should've bought this or that. I have visited other sites and most posts this is exactly what happens. The only thing on the site now is people with questions or problems posting and getting info or help.

I wouldn't call it pathetic, but I wouldn't brag about it anymore. for the last 3 years I've been a member of it, untill hal changed the format and in my oppinion ruined the board & I haven't been there to post in months now he wants a fee to do so... here is free and it takes much less time than that BB setup he has over there. in my oppinion it is too bad of a board now. still the guys going there are a great group. but again most of them can be reached at other boards too.

I WISH it was still like it used to be back this time last year!

well the ctoa is getting a fee now. I sat on a fence, but for the info available and experience there I paid for the year. any site where we can swap ideas or repair info on chinese tractors is a plus. Lets all give Hal a chance, this site is worth the money. when you have a serious question go to the ctoa for the answer.

As a FORMER member of the CTOA, I respectfully disagree Mark.

Hal made a big mistake turning CTOA into a pay forum. It used to be one of - if not THE - largest Chinese tractor forums on the internet. Now there are 58 "members" who think forking over $15 bucks is a good investment. They fall into three categories: the dealers who naturally think fifteen bucks is cheap advertising, the new owners who think $15 bucks is a cheap replacement for a good mechanic, and potential buyers who think $15 bucks pays for some decent background work. The dealers are in a win-win situation; they sell parts to the second group and sugar-coat tractors to the third group.

What's now missing is the largest and most important group; folks who OWN Chinese tractors, but simply reject the idea of being CHARGED to share to their experience, advice, opinions. The missing group used to provide creativity in the face of limited parts availability. They used to provide a reality check for potential buyers. So what, if there was an occasional green or orange troll that had too much time on his hands? CTOA in it's old format had strength in numbers, and usually one troublemaker got beat up pretty bad by 50 or so dedicated members. Now there are only 58 members - TOTAL.

I don't believe Hal intended to bias CTOA towards the dealers, but that's what I see happening. Charging a fee is a lazy way of keeping out the riff raff. There's nothing wrong with sharing opinions in a forum, even if they DO conflict. Competent moderation is the key to a capable forum, NOT a membership fee. It won't be long before CTOA devolves completely into what used to be the old CTDA.

Greg, I agree to some extent, but many of the dealers don't appear to be participating, either. Especially dealers that were on CTOA a couple of years ago. For me, I am still on the fence. I know the new format provides allot of capabilities, but I found it very annoying to traverse. For now, this and NYCTO Forum has been able to satisfy my posting urges /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would call or email Buck at EFC Construction out in WA. He was into the DF tractors and could answer just about any question. He's a stitch to talk to!
Later,

Anybody been to Bucks website lately? The only new tractors he is selling is 2 sizes of Kamas. Wonder why he dropped selling the others?
