I am looking for a snow plow for my 03 Suzuki Vinson. Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as brand and size I should be looking for? Likes /dislikes? I was thinking a 50 inch plow might do the job.
Any places online to get a good deal on the setup?

I also want to switch to a heavier 6 ply tire. something not super aggressive I was kinda looking at the ITP mudlites or the Titan 489xt's. The flimsy tires this thing came with arent getting it. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif What are you guys running on your ATV or RTV? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I sold my plow with my last wheeler and did not get one for my new wheeler. However, I had the Moose County Plow. I really liked it because of the larger rolled end. You could really move a lot of snow and off to the side. Dennis Kirk has them but not sure if their price is good or not.

I have never had a plow on my wheeler but have talked with a lot of people that have them . They all have been pleased with there preformance and amazed how much snow they can move. And we get a lot of snow here in NH.

I don't know of anyone that has changed tires for plowing but a number of them have put chains on the back.

I put 28 inch 489s on my wheeler , but no so much for the traction but to get more ground clearance. In the winter I run tracts.

jlbota,

For the plow, Cycle Country, Moose and Warn all make nice plows. As for size, something about 48" would probably be good. If you get into the 60" size, it might get a little tough trying to push deep snow. Do you have a winch on your Vinson? If not, when you get the plow you'll need to buy either a manual or electric lift. Personally, I prefer the winch for lifting. I'd probably start with e-bay. A plow, push tube and mounting hardware will probably run in the $350-400 range. I think (not sure) most mfgrs also supply links to local dealers if you give a zip code.

As for tires, the Mudlites and 489's are both real good all-season tires. My neighbor runs the 489's and goes anywhere he wants with them. I couldn't touch him with my OEM Dunlops. Saw him run a railroad spike through them. The sidewalls were able to hold it up for the ride home. I run 589's in the winter on my 500 Quadrunner (but keep on their own rims so I can use something less agressive the other 3 seasons). I'm running the Bighorns on my RTV but they haven't seen snow yet so I can't make a recommendation on them yet.

What kind of wheels do you use with your 589's? I thought about going that route and just keeping the stock ones for summer use around the yard and such and switching out the more aggressive ones for the wet stuff.
Any pictures by chance?

I have a dealer about a mile away from me and he sells Moose plows 50 inch straight and the 60 inch County plow. I am going to use a winch setup with the newer smaller handle bar switch I think.
He thinks the county plow is better but its also price $120 more than the standard 50 inch. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The wheels are steel, chromed. I think I got from the Dennis Kirk scratch and dent on e-bay. Got real lucky, nobody else bidded. Got all 4 for less than $40 + shipping /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would not want to run the 589's all year. They'll eat anything soft, including the yard.

Attached is a pic.

I've got a 48" Warn on a 300 Honda 4 Trax.
I use chains on the rear and it's amazing what it will push.
By all means , get a winch or electric lift.
As far as tires, I don't have them but know some people who have had great success with the Carlisle Trailwolf.
They're going to be my next tire.
