I'm looking for a specific bullet for my 25-06. I like to use the Winchester Ballistic Silvertip in the 115 grain. (Winchester number is SBST2506).

I've searched about 30 online sellers, and all of my local dealers and no one has had any for about a year.

I have emailed Winchester to see if they still make this bullet and I'm waiting for a reply. They do still have it on their web site.

Also, if this bullet is not available, what would be a good replacement? I've always heard and felt that every rifle has it's favorite bullet, and I've had lots of success with this bullet, so I hate to change.

I was at the range today and a friend showed up and said he was using the same bullet as me, but changed to a Remington bullet, because he could not find the Winchester anymore.

I know how you feel. We all have a favorite round. Wish you luck.

I have had good luck switching between the Win ballistic silver tips and the Federal Vital Shock with no adjustment needed.

I'm not sure but is the Winchester ballistic silver tip a Nosler ballistic tip? Is so, you could load your own.

I've used the Nosler ballistic tip in my .270, .308 and 7mm/08 with great success. You may try that as an alternative

Thanks guys. It looks that the Federal Vital Shok is a very similar bullet. I think the Ballistic Silvertip is actually a nosler Partition bullet.

I think the Vital Shok will give me an option. I do have 4 boxes of the Winchesters left, but I have 3 of these rifles so that could get used up

When I got into reloading metallic cartridges on my own many years ago, I was told by the older gentlemen that sold me my first reloading tools, "son you are not going to save any money at all by reloading, but you will shoot a whole lot more". After reflection on what he said to me many years ago, he was correct. I have bought better tools since, and a heck of a lot of components, and I have not saved any money, but I sure have shot a lot more rounds downrange than I would have been able to afford If I bought factory ammo.!

On the flip side, reloading is a fun hobby in itself. Of course if you just need a couple boxes of cartridges to sight in your rifle, and harvest a deer, or something like that, then you would probably "save money" by just buying factory.:)

When I was a kid, you could reload and make better, more precise rounds than you could buy. But modern factory loads are pretty darn good now.

The Accubond by Nosler is the best out there.I have reloaded for the 25/06 for 40 years.Started with the Nosler Partition (which is still great),have used the Ballistic Tip also.I believe the Winchester's are made by Nosler and moly coated. The moly proved to be troublesome that;s probably why you can't find them.
Hornady also makes great bullets.
