I have a few old buildings to take down. But there are lots of nails involved. Any one have ideas on how to protect the tires from flats. Only thing I can think of is to find some Amish style iron wheels. Anyone know what they cost and if it is worht the hassle? Any other Ideas.

What tires do you have now?

R-4's should hold up pretty well. I wouldn't drive over wood with nails sticking out, but driving over ground with nails should work ok. Most industrial tires are pretty thick skinned, and repairing a flat if it happens isn't that expensive.

Otherwise, if driving over the debris can't be avoided, I'd spend the money to rent a skidsteer with hard tires.

Steel rims probably are overkill, and will be real hard to get any traction going over debris. You'd be stuck like on a banana peel most of the time I think.

Foam filled tires may be your answer. Punctures won't flatten them. I believe that several people on this site use foam filled tires to prevent flats from thorns, etc...

I don't think so. These are examples of the kind of wheels he's talking about

While those pics show wheels that would be excellent on dirt, they wouldn't dig in near as well on concrete or other debris. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
