Looking for a Sreering box for a Satoh Beaver 4X4

ps.. before I'd pay 900$ for one for that small of a tractor.. I'd repalce the tractor.. IMHO..

Yes I know what you mean, I only paid $500.00 for it with 5 implements some years ago but it always starts & the only thing I ever had to do for it is change the Batt. & it is just the right size for me to take out hunting & to keep my shooting trails clear. I am going to have to just save a little more to be-able to get another steering box, I thought I could maybe find a used one for around $300.00 but I see I am wrong ! lol Thanks ! Mike

Question to ask yourself is:

Who knows you have a Satoh tractor?

It's not the kind of thing a thief would take on the spur of the moment. Someone KNEW you had a Satoh, KNEW where it was, and KNEW they would have time to unbolt it and steal it, and NEEDED a steering box or knew they could sell it. A steering box is not the kind of thing you take to a pawn shop to get cash for. It's also not made of exotic alloy or worth enough in scrap to just sell to a junkyard.

Thieves who steal farm machinery would most likely have taken the entire tractor to resell- no titles, no licensing, no VIN numbers in computers to mess with.

The average sneak thief would be more likely to steal the battery or drain the fuel tank or carry off anything in the shed they could easily sell for scrap metal.

Someone stole JUST the steering box...that means the theft was a specific, targeted job against you.

Figure out who it might be, and you might get back your steering box.

Yea we already thought about this & we think it was some one from the area that has one also or has a tractor that it would fit or some one may have know some one that needed one & took it to sell to them but the shed that it was kept in sits away from my home & it was always kept open & could be seen easily from the road. Now it is closed & new locks installed + extra security. Good new's is I think I found one & in my price range, I am just waiting on the gentleman to call me with the price to ship it to me. Mike
